Huge offseason acquisitions Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle are set for their Terrafirma debuts when the Dyip take on the Converge FiberXers for their opening assignment in the PBA Season 48 Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
Donning new uniforms following a trade that sent them to Terrafirma from Barangay Ginebra in exchange of Stephen Holt and Isaac Go, both Standhardinger and Pringle hope to usher in a new era for the Dyip team that is hoping to pick up from where it left off following a surprising quarterfinals run in the Philippine Cup.
Of course, the main gun remains Juami Tiongson who welcomed the addition of a potent inside operator in Standhardinger and reliable veteran in Pringle. The Dyip also has returning import Antonio Hester who came in on short notice after original choice Brandon Edwards sustained an ACL injury during one of the team’s tuneup games.
Making his debut as interim head coach is longtime assistant Franco Atienza who will have the wits of active consultant Rajko Toroman and new assistant coach Charles Tiu on the bench. Meanwhile in the second game, San Miguel begins its quest of reclaiming the lost glory against a young and hungry Phoenix.
