Stand for Truth has become the first GMA digital show to win a medal at the prestigious New York Festivals TV and Film Awards.

Capturing the bronze medal for a documentary on cultural issues is Lilian Tiburcio and Bryan Brazil's "Runaway Child Brides: Ang Kwento ng mga Tumakas sa Buya".

"Runaway Child Brides is one of the most challenging yet most fulfilling documentaries we've produced for Stand for Truth," Lilian said."And we are grateful for the opportunity to tell the struggles of child brides of the Manobo tribe in a different approach, with hope at the end of the story," Lilian said.It also won Outstanding Video Feature for Youth and Education in the recent Lasallian Scholarum Awards given by the De La Salle University.

The other GMA winners in this year's New York Festivals are Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho for its documentary "Sugat ng Pangungulilia", and The Atom Araullo Specials for "Mata sa Dilim". "Runaway Child Brides" tells the story of girls and even boys who decided to escape arranged marriages among the Manobo tribe in Bukidnon.

Instead of finding security in the unions arranged by their family and community, the children instead ran to teachers who made sure they had an education to depend on.
