A sturdy and cushioned high-drop (12mm) neutral shoe, the MizunoRunning Creation supports heavier runners and high mileage especially well.
There are a few different names going around for the Wave Creation Waveknit—you might also see it listed as the Waveknit C1 or the Wave Creation 2 Knit. But these are all the same shoe, with the same midsole as the regular Creation 20. At the heel, the design uses Mizuno’s Pebax Infinity Wave plate, which is the brand’s premium offering for maximum shock absorption.
“The heel cushioning system was a welcome addition to my road running efforts. It helped with easing the impact on my longer asphalt runs as I trained for a half marathon,” one tester said. “[These shoes] felt as soft as the Hokas I run in as well.”One cool thing about Mizuno is that each shoe has its own “fingerprint.” Take a look at the outsoles, and you’ll notice that the brand designs a distinct tread pattern for every model that caters to that shoe’s specific use.
“With the amount of rain we’ve had, wet runs were the norm, but puddles didn’t phase [these shoes]. Even on the limited gravel I encountered, they were wonderful,” one tester said. “They had great traction on sidewalks, road grip was good, [and] I did not experience slipping or traction loss anywhere.”The Creation has a unique upper construction that connects the shoe’s tongue and midfoot in a single, seamless piece.
“This is a solid running shoe, perhaps better for bigger runners, since it does have a bulkier feel,” one tester said. “I appreciated its overall stability and support; it is trustworthy and durable for those who like a neutral, cushioned shoe.”
