Special counsel John Durham is set to release his report on the investigation into allegations of collusion between former President Donald Trump and Russia.
The highly anticipated report comes four years after Durham first began looking into the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation.Then-Attorney General William Barr tasked Durham, who was the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut at the time, with examining the origins of an investigation the FBI conducted into ties between Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and Russia in April 2019. He later appointed him as a special counsel in October 2020, just before the 2020 election.
Barr tasked Durham with being"authorized to investigate whether any federal official, employee, or any other person or entity violated the law in connection with the intelligence, counterintelligence, or law enforcement activities directed at the 2016 presidential campaigns, individuals associated with those campaigns, and individuals associated with the administration of President Donald J.
Durham was only able to get one guilty plea during the four year investigation, being FBI ex-lawyer Kevin Clinesmith for falsifying a document.
