SAN ANTONIO - Our region and all of South Texas are closing in on a window of very welcome rainfall and cooler temperatures. Potential Tropical Cyclone One has
formed in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico and should become Tropical Storm Alberto quickly as it moves northwest toward Mexico.
While the track of this system stays well south of our region, the north side of the circulation has a large area of tropical moisture that will be pulled west with the system and move across our region. The big wildcard in the forecast, some models attempt to develop a little disturbance near the coast that ripples west over our area with a pocket of very heavy rainfall. Many models do not have this scenario and this presents a challenge in the forecast.
