South Korean authorities on Friday announced that they will lift stringent pandemic curbs on social gatherings next week—after several months of the restrictions—as it prepares to pivot to a ‘living with Covid’ strategy with more than 60% of its entire population fully vaccinated.... [+]From Monday, authorities will allow gatherings of up to four unvaccinated people and ease opening hour restrictions on businesses like restaurants, cafes and movie theaters.

While annoucing the loosening of restrictions—which have been in place since the country’s fourth wave in July—Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum said he hopes this will be the last adjustment to social distancing rules before the country returns to normalcy in November.
