The Salt Lake County district attorney’s office on Friday announced that it would not file charges against two South Jordan Police officers who shot a man last year.

Vehikite then pointed the handgun at Wilson and fired, while Wilson also fired his handgun at the same time, the letter states. Vehikite’s gunshot struck Wilson in the upper leg, and as Wilson fell to the ground, Vehikite fled to the stairs, where he encountered officer Garrett Williams. Vehikite suffered several gunshot wounds but survived. The shooting left Wilson with a severed femoral artery and a shattered femur — injuries that were considered “potentially fatal,” according to a probable cause statement.
