From covering her walls in Fiona Apple posters to writing fanfic about 'My So-Called Life,' Sophie Thatcher's role in Yellowjackets almost seems like fate 💫
, recently moved from Brooklyn to Manhattan, and it’s the first time she’s truly been on her own.
She’s lived out of a suitcase more or less since she was 17, leaving her hometown of Chicago to go on auditions in Los Angeles. Right now, she’s thankful for a bit of stability, for the proximity to Target and Trader Joe’s, for a space to call her own and pace around during interviews without having to be conscious of roommates. The mattress is still on the floor; for a while, the only furniture was a lamp that said “Canadian Whiskey,” purchased from Mother of Junk in Williamsburg.
Sophie grew up Mormon, and their family moved to a more conservative suburb when the twins hit middle school. Art became a way to escape, and when she began doing it professionally, it got her out of going to church. She covered her walls in Pavement and Fiona Apple posters; she wore her hair in ringlets and donned an oversized fur coat to school after watching
