Sonic the Hedgehog's friends get a makeover in new trailer for Netflix's SonicPrime, which sees the video game character enter the Shatterverse.
Sonic enters the Shatterverse in new Sonic Prime trailer from Netflix. The beloved titular hedgehog has earned many adaptations over the years since his 1991 debut. One of the blue speedster's most successful adaptations has been the recent live-action Paramount film franchise, which released a sequel earlier this year that became the highest-grossing video game movie of all time, domestically. Unrelated to that franchise, Netflix is producing an animated series called Sonic Prime.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY A new trailer for Sonic Prime has been posted by Netflix Geeked via Twitter. The video reveals story details for the upcoming animated series, with an extended look at a new universe, the Shatterverse, and the variants of Sonic's familiar crew. The end of the trailer also features an exciting appearance from classic Sonic adversary Shadow, who appears to be aiding Sonic in his mission in an exciting twist.
The recent multiverse trend is compelling to modern audiences for several reasons. Not only does it allow beloved characters to enter a new franchise, as was the case in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it also manages to use familiar characters in surprising and innovative ways, either by introducing them as variants of themselves or placing them in unsettling and novel surroundings.
What To Expect From Sonic Prime In Sonic Prime, the eponymous character will meet variants of Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Blaze, and the villainous Eggman himself. Based on the trailer, Sonic will have to team up with the variant versions of his friends as well as potentially the usual lone wolf, Shadow the Hedgehog, as he attempts to navigate the new world he has found himself in.
