Actress, singer-songwriter, and philanthropist Sofia Carson has been announced as the first-ever global ambassador for the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation,The Miami-based artist of Colombian descent is best known for her starring role as Evie in the Disney Channel original movieand for being part of the movie’s soundtrack, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated Aug. 22, 2015.
Since its establishment five years ago, the foundation has donated $5 million in scholarships, grants, musical instrument donations, and educational events in the United States and Ibero-America. “I am immensely proud to be the first Global Ambassador for the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, a foundation whose goal is to provide the Latin youth of the world with the precious gift of music education, and the priceless opportunity to share their music,” said Carson.
Carson’s role as a global ambassador will include advocating, promoting, and increasing awareness of the foundation’s mission and educational programs.
