SoCal's Super Bowl history: Long before there was SoFi Stadium, the region was one of the NFL's most popular sites for the big game between the Rose Bowl and the Coliseum.
PASADENA, Calif. -- SoFi Stadium and its big date with the Super Bowl may be getting all the attention, but it follows in the footsteps of another Southern California stadium, one that was once a National Football League favorite.
The Los Angeles Coliseum hosted the first-ever Super Bowl when the Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in 1967. It also was the home to 1973's Super Bowl VII. The New York Giants beat the Denver Broncos there in 1987's Super Bowl XXI, and 1993's Super Bowl XXVII saw the Dallas Cowboys defeat the Buffalo Bills.During that storied run, the Rose Bowl marked several Super Bowl firsts.
