SODO Business Improvement Area President Erin Goodman stood with KOMO News near Denver Avenue to point out what she said is a chronic problem. “We've flagged for a while that a lot of our businesses are not reporting everything to insurance. Just this morning, I did get a report from a business, that their insurer will no longer insure surface lots for trucks in SODO,” she said.“It’s the same old song and dance for us,” he said, describing an environment outside the office that will be cleaned up, and then watch the criminal element return again months later. “This is a cost to us.
When asked when people could expect reasonable changes, Woo said. “I wish I had an answer for you on when they can. We can hold people, hold us accountable for change. I'm still getting my feet on the ground. I'm going to briefings and training. Please ask me again in two weeks, I might have a better answer for you.”Goodman did say she was still optimistic, noting that the city has been more responsive and that different departments have come out to assess the situation.
