JUNE MAR FAJARDO had a bad hair day but swingman CJ Perez and Mo Tautuaa were there to fill the six-time Most Valuable Player’s big shoes as San Miguel Beer routed Terrafirma, 122-102, to go 3-0 won-lost in the Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup on Friday at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo City.
Perez and Tautuaa combined for 16 of San Miguel Beer’s 34 points in the fourth quarter—10 more than Terrafirma’s output—to stay unbeaten for a share of second place with idle NLEX Road Warriors at second spot. Fajardo wasn’t in his elements and finished with six points on a terrible 1 of 6 shooting, nine rebounds with six assists, way below his 18 points and 14.5 rebounds in their first two games.Terrafirma led 21-19 after the first quarter until San Miguel Beer woke up in the second period to race to a 38-23 advantage behind import Cameron Clark and Allyn Bulanadi en route to a 57-44 halftime margin.“We’re not invincible and that’s always going to happen,” San Miguel Beer coach Jorge Gallent said.
