-- Professional wrestlers teamed up with Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan Thursday night for a fundraiser for the families of the July 4th parade massacre in Highland Park.
It was a packed house at Madame ZuZu's – the tea shop Corgan owns at 1876 1st St. in Highland Park – as professional wrestlers Tyrus and Madusa came to chat. They also signed books and met with fans. Tyrus – real name George Murdoch – and Madusa – real name Debrah Ann Miceli – are in town for a series of shows with the National Wrestling Alliance.
The event at Madame ZuZu's is a charity event put on by Corgan – a Highland Park resident. The pro-wrestlers and their fans say it is something they wanted to support. "The vibe of just coming in here and knowing that this is happening for that cause – it's a comfortable feeling, because they know what it's for," said Miceli."It's a different type of family. You look out for each other, and you hear that a lot in some little organizations – but wrestling is pretty amazing," she said.The fundraiser continues on Friday and Saturday.
