Smart & Final Extra! has opened a new San Jose store, a warehouse and supermarket hybrid.
Fruits and vegetable area of Smart & Final Extra! store at 430 Blossom Hill Road in south San Jose.
The store, located at 430 Blossom Hill Road, was appearing to do a brisk business on Wednesday as part of a first-day grand opening event. The new Smart & Final store totals 39,000 square feet, the retailer stated. Smart & Final is now one of the anchor tenants, along with a Walgreens drug store, in the Downer Square shopping center.“We operate in several locations in the Santa Clara Valley,” Gamboa said. “We noticed there was a void in this particular market.”
The new store will employ up to 75 employees. The retailer is recruiting to hire more workers to bring the staffing levels up to the planned capacity.As part of the opening day activities, Smart & Final Charitable Foundation presented donations to two local-based organizations, the athletics program at Oak Grove High School and Frost Elementary School. Each donation totaled $2,500.
