Singer Zoe Wees has never wanted to be like anyone else. These days, her hair helps her transform, and stand out, on a regular basis.

As she experimented further, Wees says, “I really fell in love with supporting my culture—I want people to see that this is a part of me.”A big hair inspiration for Wees is Nicki Minaj, especially the colorful wigs she would wear in the beginning of her career. “I’ve personally never tried wigs, maybe I should—but it was really inspiring to see an artist using this many different hair colors and styles,” Wees says.
For Wees, hair transformations equate to meaningful self-care. “It really makes me feel good and confident to take some time to put on makeup, do my hair, think about what I want to wear and then take pictures, that’s like my little therapy,” she shares. “Leaving my comfort zone for a moment to experience new things is something that I have learned makes me feel better sometimes. I took a photo in a short, cropped jacket and pants some weeks ago and posted it.
