In its latest bulletin, DICT said a total of 65,154,570 Filipinos have registered their Subscriber Identity Module cards as of April 10, 2023. Smart Communications Inc. still has the highest tally with 32,479,499 registrants to date.This was followed by Globe Telecom Inc. with 27,826,028 registered cards and Dito Telecommunity with 4,892,043 registrants so far.
Earlier on April 3, the DICT reported that the tally of nationwide registrants was only 58,268,866. Although there seemingly was an influx of registrants during the Holy Week, the latest number released by the department is only equivalent to 38.79 percent of the nearly 170 million SIM cards across the archipelago.
The DICT has yet to announce whether the registration period will be extended or not. This means that the mandatory measure will still end on April 26, 2023.
