Sa ulat ni Jonathan Andal ng GMA Integrated News, sinabing makikita ang isang dambuhalang water detention tank sa ilalim ng Burgos Circle na pinag-iimbakan ng tubig kapag may ulan.Ang water detention tank ay may lalim na 12 metro o katumbas ng apat na palapag na gusali ay kayang paglagyan ng 22,000 cubic meters ng tubig, o katumbas ng walong Olympic-size swimming pool.
Ayon sa Department of Public Works and Highways , bukas sila sa ideya na gayahin ang underground water impounding structure sa BGC.“Yes, the DPWH actually contemplated the best practice of BCDA in BGC,” sabi ni DPWH Undersecretary Catalina Cabral sa isang punong balitaan sa Quezon City. Matapos ang pananalasa ng Bagyong Carina at Habagat, binatikos ng ilang senador ang pagpapatupad ng mga flood control project na pinaglalaanan ng bilyon-bilyong pisong pondo taun-taon pero patuloy pa rin ang pagbaha.
Ayon kay Cabral, nakumpleto na ng DPWH ang higit 5,500 flood control projects mula Hulyo 2022 hanggang Mayo 2024. Gayunman, hindi inaasahan ang dami ng ulan na ibinuhos ng Bagyong Carina at Habagat.
