Siemens has continued to support the Saskatoon operation; chips using the design software made here can be found in many of the technology products we all use daily, like smartphones, laptops and cars, Gupta said.

“They describe the Saskatoon office as one of their ‘centres of excellence’ in the world, so they’re really investing in the team,” Gupta said. “We always need more things done, and this enables us to get more of those things done faster,” Gupta added. The bulk of the company’s Saskatoon staff is made up of grads from the U of S departments of computer science and electrical and computer engineering, Gupta said, adding they have also recruited workers from the rest of Canada, the U.S. and other countries around the world.
