Huntsville City Councilman Devyn Keith has a new trial date set for the second time this month.
Devyn Keith, right, talks to a District 1 resident after a town hall meeting.
Keith, facing four counts of misdemeanor theft related to arrests on shoplifting charges, will now go to trial on Aug. 22 in Madison County district court before Judge Patty Demos. It will be a bench trial, meaning there will be no jury and the judge will render the verdict. Demos entered an order on Friday with the new date. Neither prosecutors nor Keith’s attorney filed a motion with the court asking for his previous trial date of June 28 to be rescheduled.
