Tracking the Bears at Camp: Caleb Williams' passing found the mark at a better rate Monday than in Saturday's mistake-filled practice and he's hoping to get to play against Houston Thursday.
Caleb Williams is like any NFL rookie when it comes to actually getting on the field for his first game, preseason or otherwise.
"The reps are always paramount for anybody like myself—a young rookie, second-year guy, third-year guy—it's paramount," Williams said. "It's really important and we'll see about these preseason games coming up, how they play out." "You hear a lot of things on social media about all these different narratives ... He's just been a great dude. He's got a lot of character to him, the way he carries himself ... He's just a…He hit Rome Odunze in the back corner of the end zone and Keenan Allen in a crowd for touchdowns in red zone, full-squad work. In general, his passes came out faster and with more purpose.
"Every day I wake up, I'm learning something new," Williams said. "Getting ready for the season, preseason and these next practices. Very excited, still progressing. "Just like everything else it's not just Caleb. To me, that's the young guys on the roster, the guys who are new to the roster here, getting a sense of comfort level with how we do things. What our 2024 Bears language is when we are communicating with each other. I think we have a bunch of guys that work hard and care to make those daily improvements each time we go out there."
