If the 2022 San Francisco Giants season had a cause of death, it would probably be bludgeoning. Bludgeoning from extreme boredom.
Nearly everything that went right last year — and a lot went right last year — completely went to hell in 2022. The bullpen that locked down so many wins looked hapless most of the time. Team defense was nonexistent, with thelosing game after game due to miscues in the field. The platoon system that served the offense so well last year had even the most analytic-friendly fans pining for an everyday lineup.
