The Giants managed just three hits in a 1-0 loss to the A’s on Wednesday in the second game of the Bay Bridge Series at Oracle Park

, marking the first time San Francisco had been shut out this season after a torrid start at the plate.

Of greater concern in the big picture, though, was the status of outfielder Joc Pederson, one of the Giants’ hottest hitters who had to leave the game after three innings with what was described as right groin tightness. Pederson was then replaced for the top of the fourth inning by Austin Slater, who took over centerfield. Luis Gonzalez moved from center field to right.Long, the opener, gave up the homer on just the sixth pitch of the game, as a changeup hung up just enough for Pinder to deposit it in the left-field seats. It was the first home run and just the sixth hit that Long has allowed in 6⅔ innings this season.
