Since debuting in 2019 Sex Education has garnered a huge following and helped launch the careers of cast members Asa Butterfield, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, and more.
Sex Education creator Laurie Nunn shared an open letter with fans in July 2023 explaining the decision, but that it was not an “easy decision to make” . Nunn explained that she shared any frustrations viewers had that the show was ending, but emphasized that the time was right for the narrative and characters.
Speaking at the Netflix TUDUM event in 2023, Laurie Nunn revealed that she had ideas for more stories set in Moordale that could spin off from Sex Education, but that they won’t arrive for a little while as yet . “I’m definitely taking a break and thinking about other things,” Nunn explained, “But Moordale is a really rich world, and writing about teenagers is always a lot of fun. So, I think that there’s always potential for more to be explored in that world.
