Earlier this week, the National Weather Service in Fort Worth said widespread severe storm activity was not expected for the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Storms now have the possibility of being severe, and heavy rain could affect Thursday morning commuters in the region, according to the weather service.
Juan Hernandez, a meteorologist for NWS Fort Worth, said the greatest chance for severe weather will be between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 3 a.m. Thursday. Wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail are the main threats, Hernandez said.Some parts of North Texas could see flooding, with increased water runoff because of dry ground conditions, he added.
Following this week’s storms, North Texans could see cooler conditions — 70s and low 80s — going into the weekend, Hernandez said.Mostly cloudy with a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly later in the day.
