21 counties are under a severe thunderstorm watchA few strong thunderstorms popped up in eastern Pennsylvania around noon, and some of those storm cells are moving into Hunterdon, Mercer , Somerset and Warren counties in northern and central New Jersey.

Another line of storms is hitting Gloucester and Salem counties in southern New Jersey as of 1:15 p.m., according to the. Radar indicates some storm cells are packing 60 mph wind gusts, quarter-size hail and frequent lightning. Forecasters say some of the thunderstorm cells could become intense and could drop anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of rain in a short time span, posing the risk of flash flooding. A flash flood warning that was issued in southeastern Pennsylvania includes parts of Gloucester County in southwestern New Jersey, effective through 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.These are the most recent weather alerts issued Tuesday in New Jersey, still active as of 1:20 p.m.
