The Senate on Monday adopted a resolution hailing the “Filipinas”—the Philippine women’s national football team for its historic win against New Zealand at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Senate Resolution 80 was sponsored by Senator Pia Cayetano—head of the Philippine delegation at the said bout, during Monday’s plenary session.

“This triumphant achievement resonates deeply with the Filipino people, as it not only showcases the team’s prowess on the global stage but also symbolizes the resilience and indomitable spirit of the Philippines,” the resolution added. The senator gave special commendation to Sarina Bolden who scored the historic goal via a header set up by Sara Eggesvik.
