Selena Gomez took to Instagram to respond to the heartbreaking shooting at Saugus High School
"I know people speak on this a lot because of how often it happens," Gomez wrote on a screenshot of an article from the about the shooting on her Instagram story. "Please don't get numb to it. I'm not sure if I can do anything but I will never stop trying."
She shared another message about an hour after her initial response, sharing a screenshot of a photo from 's Instagram. "Now please pay attention to what's going on around YOU. Lord I pray for protection over those affected by this heartbreaking, painful, unfair choice of someone who was severely troubled. I pray for peace that surpasses all understanding. If there's anything I can do to help I will.
The shooting left two students, a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, dead, and three other teens injured. The shooter, who has been identified as 16-year-old Nathaniel Berhow, shot himself in the head after opening fire over a 16-second period on the school's quad area. He is reportedly at a local hosptial in grave condition.
