Fue la victoria número 55 en la carrera de Dixon, y llegó en su récord extendido de 320 salidas consecutivas. Estableció la marca hace dos semanas en el Gran Premio Gallagher en Indianápolis.
El margen de la victoria de 22 segundos rompió el récord del piloto colombiano Juan Pablo Montoya, quien a sus 23 años lo impuso casi con 12 segundos de ventaja sobre Patrick Carpentier en el Motorola 300 en el 2000.
