Padres fans take over Chase Field for Fernando Tatis' first game of the 2023 season, say star's energy will fuel team
Karleigh Cole, her sister and their friend left San Diego at 3 a.m. Thursday bound for Chase Field. By 5 p.m., they had their first souvenir.
Cole was among the thousands of Padres fans who descended on Chase Field Thursday to welcome Tatis back following an 80-game PED suspension. Phoenix fan apathy and a Suns playoff game ensured that San Diego transplants and visitors outnumbered those of the home team.Karleigh Cole, Kendall Cole and Christy Godzich were all smiles after Karleigh caught a ball thrown by Fernando Tatis Jr. durinig batting practice.
The Franks picked up two seats for $430 on SeatGeek.com, drove from their home in Mission Valley and made their way to Phoenix. They sat in Section F just over the Padres dugout, Brian in a sand-colored Tatis jersey and Katie in a brown tank top with his name and number on the back.
