SUPREME Court spokesman Brian Keith Hosaka has denied any knowledge about the claim of Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay that the Court has reopened and set for oral arguments the territorial dispute between Taguig City and Makati City over of the 729-hectare Bonifacio Global City complex and several barangays.
The Court’s Special Third Division earlier affirmed with finality its December 1, 2021 declaring the contested land as part of the territory of Taguig City. Makati City Hall said it has filed an omnibus motion asking SC to hear the case en banc, a legal recourse provided for under Section 2 Rule 2 of the SC Internal Rules.
The Philippine Army headquarters, Navy installation, Marines’ headquarters, Consular area, Jusmag area, Heritage Park, Libingan ng mga Bayani, AFP Officers Village and the so-called six villages are situated in these areas. However, in a ruling issued in May 2023, the SC gave the municipality of Pateros a chance to prove its claim over some part of 729-hectare territory.
The SC decision covers Parcel 4 of PSU-31 which includes seven barangays identified as Cembo, South Cembo, West Rembo, East Rembo, Comembo, Pembo and Pitogo with an aggregate area of 3,044,568 square meters.
