Sony Pictures releases the first trailer for Saturday Night, Jason Reitman's new movie about the origins of Saturday Night Live.
“At 11:30 pm on October 11, 1975, a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television – and culture – forever,” the official synopsis reads. “Directed by Jason Reitman and written by Gil Kenan & Reitman, Saturday Night is based on the true story of what happened behind the scenes in the 90 minutes leading up to the first broadcast of Saturday Night Live.
The film is produced by Reitman, Kenan, Jason Blumenfeld, and Peter Rice. Erica Mills and JoAnn Perritano serve as executive producers. Reitman is known for directing 2005’s Thank You for Smoking, 2007’s Juno, 2009’s Up in the Air, 2011’s Young Adult, 2018’s Tully, and 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, among other films.Brandon Schreur has been writing about comics, movies, television shows, and all things pop culture for roughly five years.
