Having a Satanist deliver the opening prayer at the City Council meeting stirred concern in the Christian community in San Marcos. Close to 100 people gathered outside San Marcos City Hall, some carrying signs and praying, to express their concerns and opposition. Most of them remained outside the council chambers as the meeting began.
Longinus gave the invocation immediately after role call was taken of the City Council members. He was not interrupted during his brief speech, which he ended with two words:"Hail Satan."
