Council is being asked to approve up to $20 million in borrowing. City staff have indicated that once the final cost of the work is known, they’ll work out if the funds can be borrowed internally, or if external borrowing will be necessary.Article content City hall staff will come to council at budget time with options for repaying the loan; they have previously recommended council impose a 0.75 per cent property tax levy starting in 2024, with additional 0.75 per cent increments over four years. In this scenario, funds raised would be split between loan repayment and building up a reserve to help pay for future emergency snow responses.
