Intervention cardiologist Dr. Janine Eckstein is 'absolutely' expecting patient outcomes to improve, now that they can be treated locally.

This year, the provincial government spent $330,000 to establish a transcatheter mitral valve repair program in the province. Two surgeries have already been completed this year, and eight more are planned.
