Sask. NDP critic Meara Conway is calling for an audit into why a software changeover has cost $60 million more than budgeted.
Conway rang the alarm Tuesday on the Linkin information management system, a software upgrade project commissioned in 2009 to switch the ministry onto a new universal storage system.
Conway said the opposition has sent an official request to the provincial auditor asking for an investigation into the project. Conway said at present, the rollout has only provided Linkin to child and family services, launched in 2012. “Ministry of Social Services workers are feeling burnt out and like they don’t have the tools they need to do their jobs,” said Conway.
Conway also said opposition has found it “very difficult to track” where the extra dollars were spent on the project in budget documents. Conway criticized the project as another example of mishandled finances from the Sask Party, saying it raises “serious concerns” about financial priorities.
