Police found Perez talking to firefighters in the parking lot of the complex, according to an affidavit supporting the arrest of the three officers.According to the affidavit, she had cut the wires to a fire alarm serving the building"because the FBI was listening to her."The police officers asked Perez to"walk over to their patrol cars," the affidavit says. She grew agitated, ran to her apartment and locked the front door.
Sgt. Alfred Flores and Officers Eleazar Alejandro and Nathaniel Villalobos of the San Antonio Police Department have been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Melissa Perez at her apartment on the Southwest Side.The officers"backed away and waited for other officers and supervisors to arrive," according to the affidavit.
At that point in the standoff, officers"were positioned by the front door to the apartment and the rear balcony," the affidavit states."Officers repeatedly yelled at the Victim to come outside, but she refused."
