A big heat dome is going to take over Texas this weekend and much of next week. Triple digits are possible in the Alamo City.
Strong storms passed through Texas on Thursday, bringing a significant amount of rain and some severe weather. Unfortunately, this will be the last chance of rain for at least a week. We are transitioning to a summer-like weather pattern, with temperatures reaching the hottest we’ve felt since last September. First, we need to dig into the forecast for Friday.
If that’s not enough, the heat dome will result in record highs along the Rio Grande. Forecast temperatures range from 103-106 while records in Del Rio are expected to hit 105 Monday, 106 Tuesday, and 102 Wednesday. Currently, the forecast predicts temperatures in the upper 90s on Monday and Tuesday, reaching the century mark on Wednesday in San Antonio. This is occurring about a month ahead of schedule as our first 100-degree day typically doesn’t happen until late June.
