Spurs extend naming rights deal with AT&T
The Spurs are set to open the regular season next Wednesday at home against Charlotte.
The Spurs began seeking a new partner for its Bexar County-owned home arena in November 2021 after AT&T decided not to renew its deal, which expired after last season. The Spurs hired Legends Global Partnership, which has worked with the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders, to help sign a company that would affix its name to the arena starting this fall.
The East Side arena opened in October 2020 as the SBC Center after the Spurs reached a 20-year naming rights deal with the communications giant. In 2006, the building was renamed the AT&T Center after AT&T acquired SBC. AT&T in summer 2021 sold its minority stake in the Spurs and decided not to renew its naming rights deal as part of “our continuous evaluation of our corporate sponsorship portfolio worldwide,” an AT&T spokesperson said.
