"Thursday looks like the best day as of right now, with 40 percent chance of rain or so," said Brandon Gale, meteorologist at NWS."It looks like thunderstorms could arrive in the early afternoon, with strong to severe with large hail and damaging wind gusts." "Early Friday through the weekend, there are daily rain chances, but they're not really high, usually in the 20 to 30 percent range," Gale said."We're basically just in a favorable pattern for isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon; it's not widespread, kind of just hit and miss." During the seasonal transition from spring to summer, a southwesterly flow in the upper atmosphere is bringing moisture from the Pacific, overlapping with southeasterly winds bringing moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Further, the combination of daytime heating and weak areas of low pressure is giving the area its daily rainfall chances.
