San Antonio International Airport is issuing a big heads-up for travelers as record numbers of spring break passengers flood through. The airport said Thursday that it would welcome about 343,000 flyers Friday through Sunday as students in San Antonio, Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth and the Rio Grande Valley headed out of classrooms for the week. 'People should plan ahead, consider their options when it comes to parking and arrive early,' Jesus Saenz, director of airports, said in a release.
If not using a ride-sharing service, travelers can check parking availability at short-term, long-term and economy lots ahead of time on the airport website. Drivers can park for free on the North Side and get a shuttle to the airport for less than $3 with VIA Metropolitan Transit's Stone Oak Park & Ride. The airport said TSA is prepared for an influx of passengers, but flyers should have their government ID at the ready before entering security to speed up the process.
