Salt Lake City's International Peace Gardens, a monument to the global community, is poised to get a face-lift after falling into disrepair as part of capital improvements planned in Utah's largest city.
West side’s International Peace Gardens will get much-needed TLC from a capital improvement program that aims to tidy up parks and trails, improve transportation and make streets safer.
“It is a big deal, I’m happy,” said District 2 council member Alejandro Puy. “Obviously this is not the end of it. It’s going to need more than that, but it feels good to be moving the needle.” Multiple copper and brass plaques have gone missing over the years from the International Peace Gardens in Salt Lake City, Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023.
Last year, Puy led the charge to build a relationship with Home Depot and secured donated materials and volunteer hours from the company to improve the park.
