One man was stabbed to death and another is in custody after the two argued on Thursday, according to Salt Lake City police.

Police received a report of a stabbing near 1875 S. Redwood Road at 5:39 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Cody Myers, 40, who had suffered critical injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, Myers died after he was taken to a hospital.

At about 5:55 p.m., an officer located a 53-year-old suspect on the Jordan River Parkway Trail near 1800 South. According to police, the man matched the description provided by a witness to the stabbing. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Salt Lake County jail for investigation of murder and obstruction of justice.The Salt Lake Tribune generally does not name suspects unless they have been formally charged with a crime.
