43-year-old Joshua Butcher could face up to 109 years in prison after sentencing.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - 43-year-old Safeway shooter Joshua Butcher accepted an agreement Friday, pleading guilty to first degree murder and two counts of third-degree assault.
He then entered the store and shot multiple times while inside, injuring one additional person. Butcher turned himself in to Fairbanks Police Department officers about 10 minutes after the first shot. The plea agreement reached Friday does not set sentencing guidelines, and in an emailed response to questions Friday, Fairbanks District Attorney Joseph Dallaire could not reveal further details of the negotiations that led to the deal.
