“The plane was jumping up and down like a grasshopper”: Russian authorities investigate possible causes of jet’s emergency landing and fire

MOSCOW—Russian officials on Monday were examining the black boxes and flight data recovered from the wreckage of a passenger jet that caught fire and killed 41 people at Moscow’s busiest airport.

A Russian-made Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft carrying 73 passengers and five crew members caught on fire after making an emergency landing on Sunday evening. The plane, operated by Aeroflot, Russia’s flagship carrier, was bound from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport for the northwestern city of Murmansk.
