Linerock has launched a campaign to fight what it calls “fake news,” pointing to the Politico and Snopes articles. It posted a web page atasking for fans to spread the word that the app is safe, including details of the history of the company to 2008.
It’s not the first time that one of the company’s apps was the subject of rumors. In 2020, Linerock’s Photo Lab app wasI installed NewProfilePic on my iPhone to check it out for myself. The app is very simple, and based on, doesn’t gather all that much data. It’s certainly less data-hungry than mainstream apps such as Facebook or TikTok. It doesn’t require you to create an account, input an email address, give access to your contacts list or track your location.
