Rochester, N.Y. — Two Rochester police officers were injured after being struck by an alleged drunk driver on Jay Street Sunday night. Around 6:35 p.m., an RPD car with two officers was traveling eastbound on Jay Street. When the car approached the intersection of Jay Street and Walnut Street, it was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Walnut Street at a high rate of speed. Police say that the driver had failed to stop at a stop sign.
A third vehicle that was traveling on Jay Street was also struck by both cars. A 22-year-old man who crashed into the RPD car and another car will be charged with a DWI. Both officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. The other people involved suffered non-life-threatening injuries. All three cars sustained significant damage.
