Indian Head, Sask. product Ron Robison has been the commissioner of the WHL for 23 seasons.

Reflecting on the past two decades, Robison is proud of how the WHL has grown to be one of the best developmental leagues in the world, while being a leader in hockey scholarship opportunities as well.

A total of 54 players from the WHKL were identified by NHL Central Scouting prior of the draft, including 12 players from the top 32 in North America, “We have very clear requirements for facility standards and if those requirements standards aren’t met, then we have to look at alternate locations,” said Robison. “It’s unfortunate that we didn’t get to a position where we had a facility of standard in Winnipeg to play in.”
