Police say a shoplifting pursuit led to a rollover crash on Saturday, June 15, 2024, near Mt. Read Boulevard and Maiden Lane. Greece, N.Y. — Police say 47-year-old Neal Schifano of Rochester was arrested after a police chase and rollover crash on Saturday afternoon near Mt. Read Boulevard and Maiden Lane.
Prior to the crash, police were called to Wegmans at Mt. Reade Boulevard for the report of a man stealing merchandise from the store.Police say he quickly fled the scene and stuck another vehicle at the intersection at Maiden Lane, causing his car to roll over. He then fled the scene of the crash and headed on foot into the wooded area and residential neighborhood. Officers set up a permitter and later took him into custody.
Police say that Schifano sustained a head injury as a result of the crash and was brought to Rochester General Hospital, where he was treated for his injury. He was charged with petit larceny, leaving the scene of an accident, AUO 2nd, and was issued traffic tickets.
