But, if he were to coach, it’d have to be with a contending team. He said he contemplated retirement back in 2018. But that will be delayed, again.
So it came to the point where did I go in and ask for an extension? No. Did they offer an extension? No. Bowness said he turned down three other coaching opportunities this summer, each of them as an assistant coach. “I wasn’t going to go back to coaching for the sake of coaching,” Bowness said. “I didn’t need a job. I don’t need a job. I want to have a chance to win. The opportunity to be a head coach again? Yeah, that excited me very much. More importantly, it’s working with good people. It’s working with a good team.”
